Seminar: Engineering in the 21st Century: The Need for a New Type of Leadership

There is a set of “wicked” problems in the world: growing inequalities, access to appropriate technology, sustainability, local and global impacts,… Engineering has a crucial role to play in being part of solving those wicked problems where solutions are not obvious, and where interconnectedness and adaptability must be central to problem solving. Engineers Without Borders’ work in the engineering industry is focused on these types of wicked problems with the ultimate goal of an engineering profession solving complex issues in the world. For this kind of work, a new type of leadership is required. With this seminar, come explore what it means, as engineers, to work toward solving complex social and environmental problems in the 21st century. Through different tools like social intrapreneurship and global engineering, learn about how you can make a difference for the world, from your workplace.

Seminar: Financial Planning 101

When people are asked what is meant by ìfinancial planning, their mind automatically gravitates to investments and rate of return. Although investments or investment planning is important, this is only one- sixth of a comprehensive financial plan. The purpose of this presentation is to look at the additional issues that deal with tax planning, retirement planning, estate planning, cash management and risk management. Only when all the other pillars are discussed and analyzed can a person truly have an optimized financial future.
